Creating Space… To Strengthen Your Organization

Leading With VOICCE® Series.

You've met her. She's leading a team of six.

She runs high-stakes cross-functional projects.

She's balancing competing priorities, stakeholder pressure, and team morale.

She's navigating organizational uncertainty and constant change.

And quietly, she's burning out while trying to look like she has it all together.

She wants you to see her, because she's struggling, but afraid you'll see just how difficult things have become.

And she's not alone.

According to Gallup (2024), 68% of managers say their role has become overwhelming, and nearly 50% of mid-level leaders reported burnout in 2024, according to Deloitte.

Organizations are feeling the pressure to produce results, yet also struggling to identify solutions that really support leaders the way they need to be supported.

Here's what the ones that really get it are doing.

They are building a culture of psychological safety. Google's Project Aristotle provided insight into what it takes to drive team effectiveness. And establishing psychological safety was the #1 predictor. When leaders feel safe speaking up, they model behavior that affects the entire fabric of the organization. They build trust within their teams, and a culture that can identify solutions, not just problems.

They are building systems that support the leader's need for a safe space to reflect, grow, and receive coaching. Many organizations offer one-off or generic training sessions that don't translate to the real challenges many leaders are navigating. While well-intended, they fall short of developing the specific skills for conflict, influence, or cross-functional leadership.

They provide leaders with tools for resilience and support for the emotional labor they carry. Many leaders are overwhelmed by constant change and struggling to make decisions with clarity. Over-stimulated nervous systems tend to make decisions based on fear, while regulated nervous systems tend to make decisions from a place of grounded insight. Few organizations offer structured support for this side of the leadership equation, and it may be carrying the greatest consequence.

Here is what the most effective organizations understand that others are still missing:

When you invest in the individual leader, supporting her clarity, her confidence, her capacity to regulate under pressure, you are not offering a personal benefit. You're creating a ripple effect. Everything she touches changes.

The team she leads. The culture she models. The decisions she makes on behalf of the people who depend on her. None of that happens in isolation. And her impact extends well beyond her direct team.

Gallup's research tells us that managers account for 70% of the variance in team engagement, and that highly engaged business units are 23% more profitable than their disengaged counterparts.

Individual leadership development isn't a personal benefit. It's one of the highest-leverage organizational investments you can make. When one leader finds her clarity, her team feels it. When she leads from a regulated, grounded place, her people perform differently. The ripple is real, and it's measurable.

While there are many factors that impact an organization's performance, people leaders sit at the center of culture, execution, and retention. Creating safe spaces for leaders to think, learn, grow, and evolve will continue to differentiate between organizations whose leaders who are thriving and those who are quietly stalling out.

The question isn't whether your people leaders need this kind of support.

The question is whether your organization will be the one to give it to them - before they stop waiting.

If this resonated, I'd love to hear what you're seeing in your organization. Drop a comment below or connect with me directly.
